Political strategies, art, and institution
Lecture on the Capitalism Tribunal
Lecture, discussion, and tribunal visit with Kira Kirsch, Alix Faßmann, and Anselm Lenz
brut Wien, Karlsplatz 5, 1010 Wien
In the first part of the lecture the artistic director of brut Vienna, Kira Kirsch, explores the question of what it means for cultural institutions when they are open for political themes, in general, and for concrete political projects like The Capitalism Tribunal, in particular. Kirsch will not only provide a review of her first season as the director of brut; she also has longstanding experience as a dramaturge at the steirischer herbst festival in Graz and in the project realised there, Truth is concrete, a 7-day/24-hour marathon camp about artistic strategies in politics and political strategies in art.
Thereafter Alix Faßmann and Anselm Lenz, two of the initiators of The Capitalism Tribunal, will introduce the project. In a joint discussion with Kira Kirsch questions, answers, and thoughts about the project and about political-artistic projects will be shared. All present are invited to participate in the conversation.
At the end of the session participants can witness the trial opening and hearings.
